Friction Stir Robot End Effectors (FSR)
v For light duty complex contour welds in aluminum alloys less than 3mm thick, Bond technologies offers a line of robotic end-effectors.
v The FSR series robotic end-effector is a unique machine design. With it's self-contained 4-axes the end effector removes most of the control limitations of the robot it is mounted to.
• X-Axis- Servo drive motion with force monitoring capabilities
• Y-Axis- Servo drive motion with force monitoring capabilities
• Z-Axis- Servo driven motion with force monitoring and force control capabilities.
• A-Axis- Servo driven rotary axis allowing a precisely controlled 1° lead in angle throughout the weld with little intervention from the robot.
v FSR End Effectors are also available in a single Z-Axis configuration.
v Precision machined mounting pads flanking the spindle cartridge provide a location to attach part contact components, such as hold downs (designed for stationary integral fastening welds) or roller hold downs for linear weld applications. Hold downs remove robot deflection from the equation by allowing the robot to exert force in the plunge direction while the Z-axis handles precise depth or force control.
v Hold Down force can be monitored separately using a force transducer mounted between the end-effector and robot.
